GENaustin Launches Workshop Series GENaustin, the Girls Empowerment Network of Austin, invites parents and others who work with teen
girls to a special workshop series to explore two issues that teen girls often struggle with: relational aggression (peer bullying) and poor
body image. Participants will come away with tools to be a resource to girls in grades 4-12 as they navigate adolescence.
Workshops will be held from 6:30-8:00pm and space will be limited to 20 participants. Registration is $35/person and
is available here.

GENaustin's Executive Director to Speak at Girl Talk Presentation
We are pleased to announce that GENaustin's Executive Director, Julia Cuba, will be
presenting "Mother/Daughter: Hot Flashes and Personality Clashes," on Thursday, January 25th at 8:00 am at Canyon Ridge Middle School. Before
coming to GENaustin, Julia ran a program called Enterprising Girl Scouts Beyond Bars, also known as Troop 1500, which serves girls whose mothers are
incarcerated and focus on creating a bond between mothers and daughters. We have received a great deal of interest in this
Girl Talk presentation and are hoping to do a second session in the future.

Children's Media Project of New York Uses GENaustin's oriGENal voice
Curriculum
GENaustin is happy to announce that our curriculum is being implemented
by organizations around the nation! Recently, GENaustin shared an oriGENal voice Educator's Kit with the Children's Media Project.
Students used the "Love Your Body. Don't Smoke" activity and added their own creative twist. Click here to watch

GENaustin Thanks Local Organizations for their Support
GENaustin would like to thank the Hilde Girls and the Djembabes for donating the
proceeds of their recent holiday concert to support GENaustin services. The concert was a great success with an audience of over 600.

clubGEN program by generously donating pizzas for a best attendance party at Dobie Middle School. The clubGEN girls give Southside
Pizza two thumbs up.

Women's Alliance, for helping us build our library of girl-related books during their holiday book drive and the Blue Elephant Boutique for making GENaustin the beneficiary of a recent in-store craft fair.
