Researchers find an Achilles heel of most flu viruses
A scientific team led by Dana-Farber researchers identified a group of normal human antibodies that neutralize a vast range of flu viruses, including the "bird flu" and many seasonal flus. Tiny particles offer big promise for lung cancer treatment

Yolonda Colson, MD, PhD, a cardiothoracic surgeon in the Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center, is testing a small solution to the problem of lung cancer recurrence following surgery. Colson is a pioneer in the study of how nanoparticles can act as delivery vehicles for chemotherapy drugs. Read more

A new analysis finds that when colorectal cancer patients seek out health information from the internet and news media, they are more likely to be aware of and receive the latest treatments for their disease. Clinicians using electronic prescribing override most medication safety alerts

Computer-based systems that allow clinicians to prescribe drugs electronically are designed to automatically warn of potential medication errors. A new study by investigators at Dana-Farber and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center reveals clinicians often override those alerts and rely instead on their own judgment. Read more
