Rock-Solid Partners and Sponsors weigh in on Simplicity
Rock-Pond Solutions has the privilege of working with many of the most experienced people in the home
infusion industry. We asked them for their insight on achieving simplicity in 2008 and this is what they said.
Maggie Burch, B. Braun Medical,
Inc..."Seek out products and
services that support your work flow and easily integrate with your current systems." Work with B. Braun - The Company that is Sharing Expertise® to make a difference in Home Infusion Therapy. Improve
efficiency from order entry to mixing to delivery - all while improving patient care. Learn how. Call 1-877-949-9529 today and ask for
your local B. Braun representative. Or visit http://www.bbraunusa.com/.
Kay Wetherbee, RN, Healthcare Automation,
Inc...Eliminate medication reconciliation
through technology."
Find a home visit tool, like HomecareNet Mobile, that works with your
office data, to collect medication information and populate your patient medication profile. This will save countless hours of nursing and pharmacy
time, allowing your clinical staff to focus on patients rather than reconciling medication information.
Dana Douglas, Accounts
Receivable Solutions..."Document denial codes as part of cash posting."
Software companies have added the
features to record denial codes associated with line items denied on claims. If these are entered into your home infusion software, and if you
set up processes to use this information you will be able to see more clearly what is going on so you can improve your reimbursement results.
It’s simpler to solve a problem when you can see what is causing it.
Kim Bourcier, ProCure® Consulting, Inc..."Review Contract and Purchasing
Habits."
Review contracts and purchasing habits consistently to ensure you achieve optimal savings for pharmaceuticals and medical supplies
through your GPO.
Linda
Payne, Reimbursement Concepts, LLC..."Assess reimbursement staff effectiveness."
Monitoring productivity and
accuracy are critical: Time = Money. Set individual goals, make them measurable and run reports that show work by employee.
Communicate your findings and let your staff know how they are doing.
Jeff Johnston, DHS / CPR+..."Let go of the paper in your office."
Implement the easy-to-use document management system in CPR+.
Anything that you’re currently filing in a paper chart can be received electronically and attached to a patient record, easily accessible to
everyone. Invest in a $400 scanner and give us an hour to help you configure a PC to send & receive faxes – you won’t believe how
much time you’ll save.
Tiffan K. Davis, HHLA..."Standardize all lab work to Home Health Laboratories of
America."
Consolidating labs to HHLA simplifies the job of your nursing team every day. Lab drops are as close as any
staffed Fed-Ex® location and all of your results come through one website. Patient, insurance and doctor information is transferred
automatically from your home infusion software, reducing the amount of paperwork for every lab draw. Improve efficiencies, reduce hassles, and save
money. Find out how Lab-in-a-Box will make your life
simpler in 2008.
Pearl
Shores, Shores Enterprises..."Work your high dollar claims first."
No time to work accounts receivable? Solution: Work the oldest
highest dollar claims first. Give your staff the “Top 10 or Top 25” accounts in terms of
dollars outstanding and age of A/R. The large dollar accounts often represent a significant portion of the A/R.
Robin Marcus, Hann's On
Software..."Protect HIPAA/Patient Confidentiality by going paperless."
You can use Ascend software to export
reports to Excel, Word , PDF files, and other Window applications. Save time on printing, filing, and faxing, save money by using less paper and
supplies, and be more environmentally friendly. Finally, a paperless report system helps you protect HIPAA/patient confidentiality by avoiding having
sensitive data lying about on printed reports.
Doug Huffman, RemitDATA,
Inc...."Utilize "one button" EOBs."
With RemitDATA, one button will pull up all of the EOB’s that did NOT
cross-over to a secondary Payer. These EOB’s are Patient Specific on each page so you will no longer have to fold EOB’s, make copies or
use magic markers to block out other patient data. This is just one of the many productivity enhancers you will find with our
service.
Jeanie
Lugli, Healthcare Automation's Reimbursement Center...Consolidate electronic claims vendors.
Simplify your billing
process by limiting the vendors through which you send your claims and then document the process for consistency throughout your organization.
Often payers request that you bill through one vendor (of their choice). However, before jumping through hoops to accommodate, be sure your
primary vendor (ie: Zirmed) can send on your behalf. Keep in mind that the vast majority of your claims will be paid the first time if
they are “clean” and sent in the correct format (electronic or paper) for that payer. If you have a good relationship and trust
with one vendor, this is a good time to simplify and “put all your eggs in one basket”. Good luck!
Sheila Chandler,
Accounts Receivable Solutions..."Assign billers and collectors to
patients."
Software companies have added features to
automatically add billers and collectors to insurance companies, patients and invoices. Home Infusion Reports from Rock-Pond provide powerful reporting tools to utilize this information to manage the
productivity of your home infusion reimbursement department. Yet, many providers have not taken the time to understand and utilize these
features. Have you? It will be much simpler to manage and improve your reimbursement if you do.
Gary Collins, Professional Reimbursement, Inc..."Make sure
your claims are squeaky clean before they go out the door!" The number one cause for errors in billing, as I see it, has to do with too many assumptions and way too much
carelessness. Companies place so much emphasis
on getting the claims out the door. A more simple approach is to relax, focus and take the
time to do it right the first time. Computers are great…people are better!
