NOVEMBER 2, 2007

Spend all week making fun of people who bought “pirate in a bag” costumes at the last minute, lost on a safari in Amy Winehouse’s hair, or street fighting with Pierce Brosnan? Here’s what we were talking about behind your back…compiled by your friends and frenemies at 1835 Cahuenga:

Play Doubles with Serena and Jackie

You know Jackie Long as that actor guy from “ATL” and “The Comebacks”. (Nope?...IMDB) I know him as that less famous guy squiring tennis champ and new proactive spokesmodel Serena Williams to LA events all the time. Tomorrow night, get to know them both at SHAG. It’s Jackie’s Birthday party in VIP Booths 50-53.

While less speculated-upon than Reese and Ryan, etiquette says you can calligraphy them on to the same place card at your next confirmation luncheon. Bring your own international sports and fashion icon to SHAG tomorrow night and challenge birthday boy Jackie and his girl to a doubles dance-off. Winner gets a free DVD of a certain smash hit thriller…..

Oren “The Butcher” Koules

While office girl Jess made a mess cooking candy apples in the Shag kitchen Sunday afternoon, I cracked the password on Louis’ Macbook to go shopping through last night’s party picks at MingleNow.com . Instead Variety’s screaming headline greeted me: “Saw 4 Butchers the Competition”. Yikes!

As a vegetarian, the photo at left is my own personal South Beach Diet plan, even without a greasy headline like that one.  Congrats to Oren Koules, Exec Producer on that feature, and Co-Exec Producer in the SHAG Kingdom (if you know what I mean). At $32 Million last weekend, thank you for giving the kids a well lit multiplex in which to carefully inspect their Mike&Ikes and Mini Mr. Goodbars for needles, poison, or creepy eyelashes before devouring them in the midst of a Trick or Treat binge.

Here's what you missed at SHAG this week...

The King is Coming to SHAG

Prince Charles is a Division I nerd. So it’s not him. Rumor has it, if Shaq came to watch you play high school basketball, ESPN covered those games nationally, and you have $90 million reasons to like drinking Sprite, you will be at SHAG next Saturday night.  We’re used to escaping Hollywood publicists who send mean emails, but this week I fear some muscles from the Midwest so we’ll leave it at that.  Legally can’t say more. Mark your calendars, next Saturday night, November 10.  Swoosh! Slam!

You Out Tonight?

As always, if you are heading out, make sure you text or email in advance so we can come grab you at the door.  For any night of the week, shoot an email to thelist@shaghollywood.com or hit the myspace before 4:45 PM.  (Wednesdays and Sundays you might find a “running from fires” sign on the door, we’re closed…so keep it to yourself on those days)

Come Find Me at Table #52 in the corner VIP, I’ll have a Chimp Special ready for you….

Your BFF-FEAE,

Mikey “The CHIMP” Glazer and your friends at Shag Hollywood

P.S. Awards, Medals, and High Fives to our friends at JT Talent and G Models who reached deep in their couture purses to make supersize donations to the American Red Cross fire relief fund. We hope they did it just to be neighborly during the disaster, and not just for the free rounds of drinks promised last Friday.  This Saturday, any LA, Ventura, O.C. or San Diego FD who are off duty, please badge your way right to the door where we’ll take care of your entire arriving party. (up to 5 people).  One huge good deed deserves at least this small one.
