December, 2005

This is it! The final countdown is on for Christmas, and talk around the office is leaning towards the Peterson staff party, plans for the holidays, and putting up our Christmas lights. We are still here serving you for another couple of weeks though. Mark it in your diaries that the factory will be closing for Christmas on the 22nd of December, and opens again in the New Year on the 9th of January. If you have any urgent matters during this time, you can still contact Chris and Kerris on the usual phone numbers. Don't be surprised if you catch them lying on a beach somewhere though!

So in this final "Cutting Comments" of the year we are pleased to announce the launch of the Owner's Area on our website. We hope it will serve you well. We profile Canadian owner Timo Scheiber, take a laugh at Paul in the Photo of the Month, and we also put out a call to find some good sawdoctors - with great benefits to you if you can help us out.

So keep reading, and enjoy this moment of peace before you get too carried away with the festivities. From all at Peterson's we sincerely hope you have a safe, special Christmas with the ones you love.

And as always, if you have a question or comment, send it through.

Merry Christmas
From the Peterson Team.

THE OWNERS AREA IS LAUNCHED
It is finally here!

This one has been in the pipeworks for a while now, but Trudi is very relieved to finally be able to say that it is here! Let's just say she has a whole new respect for web programmers after experiencing this one!

So far in the restricted area, we have blade troubleshooting, blade spec sheets, hints and recommendations for your mill, spare parts and manual requests, and advice on selling your mill.  We've also sourced numerous articles that aim to help you build a better business, covering areas from management to marketing. We will soon be adding case studies of other owners and how they have made it work, and other resources to better equip you.

But before you can see it all, you'll need a password. Send your request through to Darnielle and she'll be able to fire one back when she is sitting at her desk. If you already have your password, you can go straight to the login page and check it out. Any problems, Trudi would just love to hear from you, so send her an email.

PHOTO OF THE MONTH
"Just out of reach"

Paul is one of the characters around the Peterson factory. He's a Pom (need we say more?!), he loves chocolate, he's fun to pick on, and he's . .. . short.

So when we built a custom-designed giant ASM frame for one of our New Zealand customers, we couldn't help but take a photo of Paul trying to reach it!

A CALL FOR HELP
Can you recommend a good sawdoctor? Then we need your help.

We want to put together a database of good, reliable, affordable sawdoctors from around the world. We also want to get in touch with these sawdoctors and see if we can work out a little deal that will give YOU a discount when you get your Peterson blades serviced through them.

So, if you would like to help us build our database, and in turn help yourself get a discount on your blades, send details of your sawdoctor through to Darnielle. We'll even give you 30 Peterson Points as a thank you.

(And if you're still not sure what Peterson Points are, find out more and get yourself registered).

UPCOMING SHOWS AND EVENTS

Mark your calendars now for one of the biggest Forestry Shows in the Southern Hemisphere. We are hosting Forest Industries 2006 right here in Rotorua on the 8th - 11th of March. It's going to be huge, with numerous local and international exhibitors, lots of seminars, and plenty of fun.

We have put together fantastic packages for those coming from out of town to see the show, so contact us and see how we can make it into a great holiday for you and your family.

LAST LAUGH
Sorry for eating the peanuts

A man visits his aunt in the nursing home. It turns out that she is taking a nap, so he just sits down in a chair in her room, flips through a few magazines, and munches on some peanuts sitting in a bowl on the table.

Eventually, the aunt wakes up, and her nephew realizes he's absentmindedly finished the entire bowl. "I'm so sorry, auntie, I've eaten all of your peanuts!"

"That's ok, dearie," the aunt replied. "After I've sucked the chocolate off, I don't care for them anyway."
