, Did you know that you can designate your United Way donation to be given to Young Life Los Alamos? Did you know that the LANL foundation will match your donation, in a sense doubling what you are giving to Young Life? Oh Yes!   In LANL's desire to give away a million dollars they are matching employee contributions to United Way. But as the donor, YOU can designate where the money goes.You can pick the 501(c)3 that you want to benefit, like Young Life Los Alamos or HPC or both! How great is that!   Below I have photocopied the form that each employee received in the mail. I have highlighted what you need to fill out and where you need to check. Just pick "Other" and write in Young Life Los Alamos. You can do a one time contribution or a monthly payroll deduction if you like.

This could be a great way to give a little more to Young Life without it costing you. If you would like more information or have specific questions, please call the YL office, or you can contact Debra Wersonick @ sonic@lanl.gov with questions. The deadline for signing up is October 3rd, but they will most likely extend this deadline a little.  Even though you can pledge online, I am not sure if that pledge is matched.    I realize that this does not fit everyone. I just thought I'd offer it up to you.

Also - if you are not aware of it - LANL is also honoring the volunteer hours that you put in.  Young Life recently received a check for $950 because 4 people recorded the hours that they volunteered with Young Life.  All current and former employees are allowed to record their volunteer hours. (Click the image to go to the website)   I do not know all the ins and outs of this, but I do know that 130 organizations got over $52,000 last year through this program.  Question - call the Young Life office or Debra Wersonic with questions.     Thank you for the ways in which you support the Young Life ministry here in Los Alamos.
