Make-a-Thon 2010:
Final workshop schedule, directions, and other must-read news!
Saturday, November 6, 2010
8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. (NOTE: earlier start time)
Microsoft Building 43
Thanks for registering! We're excited to have you join us next Saturday for a full day of making, thinking, discovering, doing, and sharing—all in the service of exploring how to craft interfaces utilizing gestural and touch interaction. Almost half of the event attendees responded to our poll last week, and the schedule has been crafted to reflect the results. Highest-demand workshops are being offered twice, and the other sessions are staggered according to group preferences.
Please note the earlier start time, at 8:30 a.m. This is to accommodate a sold-out crowd checking in, choosing workshops, and mingling over coffee and snacks before kicking things off at 9 AM sharp. See the schedule below, also available as a pdf download to print.
Where are the Meeting Rooms at Microsoft's Building 43? The campus over in Redmond can get a bit confusing, so we've prepared a map and will have volunteers to help you find your way.
How can I lock in my final workshop choices? When you arrive at the event, tell one of our volunteers at registration your workshop selections. You'l be provided with tickets for those workshops. Please keep in mind that all tickets will be first come, first served—but with the repeated workshops, it's likely that you'll be able to attend most of your first workshop choices. Don't worry about bringing the schedule with you—we'll have them printed big at registration.
What do I do during breaks between workshops? Feel free to share what you've made! We are blocking off whole walls that you can use to post up the artifacts you create in every workshop. We also encourage you to enjoy the provided catered lunch, mingle with the other attendees, decompress in one of the lounge areas around the meeting rooms.
Don't miss the end-of-the-day recap. Want to see what happened in the workshops you couldn't attend? IxDA Seattle local leader Daniel Jaeger is going to observe and document all of the workshops, and see what we made over the course of the day. Plus, we'll be holding a surprise giveaway with a bunch of fun UX-related gifts for some lucky attendees!
Do you have any questions? Feel free to direct them to us and we'll help you out!
And, don't forget a big thanks to our sponsors for helping to make Make-a-Thon possible: Microsoft Expression, FILTER, Teague, and Hornall Anderson Design Works.
Thanks again for being a part of Make-a-Thon 2010! We're looking forward to seeing you on Saturday, November 6th at 8:30 a.m.
All best,
IxDA Seattle, AIGA Seattle, and Interact
