Wiz Words

Fall is my favorite time of the year to ride.  It won’t be too long before the leaves will change to a variety of colors.  The weather is cooler which for me makes a more pleasant ride.  It is possible to ride in the afternoons as well as in the AM without worrying about becoming overheated.  Read The Whole Article >>

Come to the Membership Meeting and Vote for the new Board Members

By Roxanne Wright

Make your voice be heard.  Come to the Membership Meeting October 4, 2010 and VOTE!  Your vote CAN make a difference.  These people will decide how the Oz Bicycle Club of Wichita will be run in 2011.  They need to know what direction you want the Club to go in 2011.  We need more members to be involved as Officers and Committee Chair and Committee members.

During the Membership Meeting you can let the Board Members know that you would like to serve as an Officer or on one of the Committees.  We need fresh ideas for the Touring Committee.  New people to SAG rides and help out the 2011 Touring Chair any way you can.

If you have never been a SAG you don’t know what you’re missing.  It is really a lot of fun meeting and serving the riders.  The riders really appreciate the service.  I know I have.  When you’re down to your last drop of water, there is the SAG.  They have cold water for your bottle and a snack to get you to your next stop.  Also if you just can’t go any further they will bring you and your bike to where you parked your car.  These people are very important to our club.  So please come out and vote.  Read The Whole Article >>

Make sure to join us at the next Oz Club Meeting in order to vote for those persons of whom you would like to be on the new Board of Directors.  If you don’t attend & participate, you don’t have any room to complain if your candidate(s) weren’t elected!

Meanwhile, the annual picnic was fun…preceded by the bicycle ride prior to the event.  Thank you to all who attended & especially thank you for the great food that we had as well.

Keep on Trekkin!

I'm sorry I had to miss the picnic, it sounds like it was a good one.  I'm told that 28 people attended and of those, about 20 did the ride.  I understand some riders had a little trouble along the route, but not too difficult to overcome.

Ben Sciortino introduced the candidates running for the Board of Directors and there was a short meeting too.

I want to thank everyone that helped set up and clean up after the picnic.  I knew there would be plenty of capable hands available.

We Are Playing Bicycle Polo
Monday Nights
By Gary Vreeland

Riding your bike is fun, but if you want to have some more fun on your bike, than try bicycle polo.  We are playing bike polo every Monday night at 8pm at Douglas and Osage in a lighted parking lot, 2 blocks west of the Delano roundabout.

Come to watch or come to play.  We choose up sides from who is there and play non- competitive, sporting games.  Sometimes we remember the score and sometimes we don’t because we are there for the fun of it.

Polo mallets are provided and any type of bike with lower gearing will do.  Loaner bikes are available if you don’t have one.  The rules are simple and we are there to enjoy the social occasion and ride the bikes.  Bring your helmet, something to drink during the breaks and a sense of adventure.
