Dear Ty,
PDM November 21, 2006
Executive Sales and Operations Planning: The "Sharpie"
Journey
Dean Smetana, Sanford Director of Materials
Many of today's companies find themselves in the same position Sanford Brands
did: Inventory was too high, service wasn't high enough, and none of the functional areas within the company were talking the same language. Hear
about the journey that Sanford took to provide its leadership team with a routine, consistent, common platform for strategic business discussion and
decisions all without any investment in new technological solutions.
This is a practitioner's presentation. We hope to see you there.

There will be more to come later on the Lean Manufacturing Workshop.
We are also hoping to offer two CSCP exam prep courses. One will be on Wednesday evenings from
February 7 through April 11. The other will be on Saturdays from April 21 through May 19. We thank NSCC for their help in coordinating these classes.
If your employer would like to offer the CSCP or Lean Manufacturing Workshop classes on-sight, please
contact education@apicsnashville.org. Or you can call me (Ty Tabernik) at 615-673-2145.
Note - possible courses at MTSU : Similar programs (CSCP, CPIM,
and the Lean Manufacturing Workshop) will possibly be available through Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) next year. We are currrently
looking for individuals or companies who might be interested in taking these courses at MTSU. Please give me (Ty Tabernik) a call at
615-673-2145 or send me an email at education@apicsnashville.org if you would be
interested in classes at MTSU. There is nothing currently scheduled, however, we would like to hear from you if you or your company would
be interested.
Looking for a Vice-President of Education
That reminds me…we are still looking for someone to fill the role of VP of Education on the
MITE Board of Directors. We are also looking for instructors for the CSCP, CPIM, and Lean Manufacturing Workshops. Give me a call (Ty Tabernik

Important CSCP Dates
If you are interested in taking the CSCP exam, APICS has announced the Exam dates for the next
year. The dates are:
- December 2, 2006
- March 24, 2007
- June 23, 2007
- December 8, 2007
The exams in 2007 will continue to be paper and pencil exams and the exam locations will be
