District Rotarians: Lorrie and I are looking forward to seeing you again this time
here in Pell City for our district's annual conference! The friends made, the opportunities in obligation - tour of our
"Alabama the Beautiful" visiting together our 56 Rotary Clubs - what a treat for us both! Now it's time for your visit and our
opportunity together for fun, fellowship and another Celebration of Rotary. Club Presidents 2006-2007 and 2007-2008; you are the first two
classes of presidents to have experienced the thrill of extended Rotary fellowship and friendships at Mid-south PETS in Nashville. The most
recent meeting there loyally attended by our current and future team of Assistant Governors expanded on the lessons learned from 2006. DGE Phil
Fowler stepped up to an unexpected challenge and Led the Way! He and Diane will be looking for our new Rotary Year Leadership to
join us here in conference. Let's do it! Let us all Lead the Way and prove that Rotary Shares! You and your membership will not be
disappointed.
Come on now; let's all get together,

Dennis and Lorrie,
Here’s a few pictures of
Amanda’s graduation from DLI in Monterey. She graduated with honors and won the Provost Academic Award. She also gave the
graduation speech, in Russian with a translator. Monterey was lovely, as usual. We did a lot of sightseeing during the week we were there
– Carmel, San Francisco, Point Reyes National Seashore, Yosemite. Saw the Lone Cypress. I love it there. See you
soon.

Note for Newsletter recipients: Defense Language
Institute is located on site of the Persidio of Monterey and is an immersion treatment in mastering foreign languages. Let's join together in
the Family of Rotary and hoist the Navy Flaghoist signal BZ ("Bravo Zulu") translated --
WELL DONE!

SPECIAL THANKS
TO DISTRICT TRAINING STAFF!
&
Dear Governor-elect Phil:
Lorrie and I appreciated your invitation to address our District's Assembly at lunch on
Saturday, April 21, 2007. Thank you for your kind introduction that preceded my remarks.
The Tom and Bo Team presentation on The Rotary Foundation was best ever. I
think the extra time allotted made the difference for helping each of us understand the grand opportunities we all have in Rotary service.
Arch Klumpf's original idea of RI/TRF mission - DOING GOOD IN THE WORLD was prescient and prophetic. I would have never in the
past thought that I'd make the case that:
Rotary International
and its
Foundation
are the most important organizations in the world today, dedicated to doing good in the world
and promoting world peace and understanding!
THERE! I said it again and remain,
Yours in Rotary service and friendship,
DG Dennis

SPECIAL MESSAGE
"Can You Imagine a world without Rotary?"
******************
Why I am a
Rotarian
august 29, 2006
Rotary is a miracle as small as one tiny drop of vaccine in a child's mouth and as big as peace and prosperity for our
planet.
Personally, I think it requires an incredible investment of our time and energy that offers unlimited returns.
For the recipient it can be the promise of a future
filled with hope; for the donor, the assurance of fulfillment and probability of grace.
While it is tempting to savor its rich and brilliant
past; for most people Rotary is and will remain -- a pathway to the future.
