Calm Before the Storm

I remember the days when summer seemed to stretch out forever. Now, I'm well aware that it will be here and gone before I know it.

For me, summer will start off with my classes at the Bead & Button Show next month. After that, I'm off to Cleveland to tape the next season of Beads, Baubles & Jewels and to Chicago for the Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) Summer Show.

It will be a busy few months, but I'm looking forward to it. It's also forcing me to savor these relaxed days before the madness. I guess I work better with deadlines!

New Beads, Baubles & Jewels

Scripts from series 600 of the PBS television show Beads, Baubles & Jewels are now available online. Click here to see the season overview with links to the projects.

This season, my Beading Lessons segments feature tips for beading stitches like peyote and right angle weave. I also present six stylish, sparkly Swarovski Crystal projects, including the necklace and earring set pictured here.

New Triple Take Column

The June issue of Simply Beads includes a new column called Triple Take. Candie Cooper, Margot Potter and I use the same materials to create a project in one of three categories: accessory, home decor or jewelry. This new column will be in each upcoming issue.

I had a lot of fun coming up with my June project, the Little Miss Artgirl necklace. But the really exciting part was seeing the three finished projects together! They're three totally different takes on the same Artgirlz projects. It's a creative jumpstart, that's for sure!

CHA Trend Team

I've been asked to join a new trend team made up of professional designers. The group will report to the Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) four times a year on new techniques, tools, products and designs from the unique perpective of a craft designer.

It's an honor to be included on the team and I'm already hard at work on my first contributions. (If you count reading magazines and window shopping as hard work, that is!)

The entire CHA Design section will be invited to contribute information to the team through special trend sessions at trade shows and designer events.

The first report will be part of a session entitled "Trend Tracking and Forecasting" to be presented during CHA Designer's Education Day on Monday, July 23, 2007.

Members of the team are:
