Workshop: "Finding the Funding & Grant Writing
Basics" NEPA and the Nonprofit & Community Assistance Center
(NCAC) are sponsoring a grant seeking & grant writing seminar on Wednesday,
August 30, 2006 from 1 to 4:30 p.m. (Registration begins at 12:30 p.m.) at the NCAC & NEPA Alliance Offices,
Pittston. This seminar is intended to introduce the basics as well as the nuances of effective grant preparation and submission
strategies. Participation in this seminar offers an opportunity to learn new approaches and current thinking in the field about
increasing chances of getting funded. Additionally, the participants will learn how to research and identify eligible funding sources
through a variety of websites and online tools, including the Foundation Center's Online Directory. The seminar will be presented by Kurt
Bauman, NEPA Alliance. Light refreshments will be served. Cost is $10 for NCAC Members and $20 for non-members. Register for

4th Annual John J. Luciani Regionalism Award
Established in memory of John J. Luciani, former NEPA Board Chairperson, this regionalism award
represents the pure dedication which Mr. Luciani displayed for the people of our region, his passion for economic growth throughout the region and
the hard work that formed the foundation and advancement of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Alliance (NEPA) as the premier regional economic and
community organization for Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Nomination Criteria & Information:
- The project must be regional in nature (Carbon, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike, Schuylkill &/or
Wayne Counties)
- The award can be presented to a person, organization or business
- The project should have a positive impact on the region
- Projects should bring multiple counties together
- The project does not have to be solely economic development
- Projects can be related to health services, education, transportation, community development, etc.
- Projects completed prior to January 1, 2005 are not eligible however, projects currently underway are
eligible
- Anyone may nominate, provided that they can supply the necessary information
- Anyone may nominate themselves or their own project
- Five finalists will be invited to attend NEPA's Annual Meeting
- One winner will be chosen by the Luciani Award Committee

County Receives $200,000 in Loan Funds C.W. Printing, Inc. D/B/A Creative Printing, a Luzerne County based sub
chapter S-Corporation has received $200,000 in loan funds for land &
building construction.
Established in 1996, C.W. Printing, Inc. D/B/A Creative Printing is owned and operated
by Wayne Oplinger. Currently, the company operates out of a rented facility located at 280 River Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA. The new constructed
facility will be located at #1 Dan Flood Industrial Park, Nanticoke, PA. Presently, they have 10 full-time employees and with this
project, they will retain 4 and create an additional 4-6 jobs.

DID YOU KNOW? Per capita
personal income in Pennsylvania reached $33,257 in 2004 and ranked 18th nationally, according to the Survey of Business,
recently released by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). Per capita personal income in the Commonwealth increased $1,527 between 2003 and
2004 and has increased by more than $5,000 since 1999. Personal income in Pennsylvania totaled $435.4 billion in the 3rd quarter of 2005, 1.0
percent higher than the previous quarter ($431.2 billion) and 5.2 percent higher than the 3rd quarter of 2004 ($414 billion). However, the average
