The Northeastern Pennsylvania Nonprofit &
Community Assistance Center is now accepting applications for the 2006 NCAC Community Awards. The NCAC Community Awards highlight the
programs and projects that are making a positive impact on the communities in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Entries may be submitted by non-profit
organizations political subdivisions, chambers of commerce, industrial development groups, school districts, colleges or universities, social clubs,
business or industry, media organizations, and other organizations involved in community improvement. Applicants do not need to be a
501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The 2006 NCAC Community Awards Program will be held at the Woodlands Inn & Resort on Wednesday, June 7,

Discounted Computers Available for
Local Governments through the Northeastern Pennsylvania Alliance The Northeastern
Pennsylvania Alliance (NEPA), through the Municipal Technology Assistance Program (MTAP), is offering new DellTM computer systems
(desktops and laptops) to local governments (including fire/police departments, municipal authorities, and EMS) at significantly discounted costs.
Discounted computer hardware/software is also available and qualifying municipalities/counties can obtain grants to subsidize costs for internet
access/upgrades and website development/upgrades. Eligible government entities are urged to respond quickly, as funding is limited. Past offerings

Grant Funding Opportunities for Training March 22, 2006Penn
State Worthington Scranton is presenting an information session on "Grant Funding Opportunities for Training" for employers in Northeastern
Pennsylvania. Find out HOW TO: Identify your training needs, Tap into available resources, Finance training for your employees and develop
partnerships with training providers and economic development agencies. The session will be held at the Worthington Scranton Campus and will feature
speakers on WEDnet funding,(Pennsylvania's guaranteed free training) and the Incumbent Worker Grants currently being offered by the various Workfoce
Investment Boards in the area. This information session starts at 8am and includes continental breakfast. The cost of the program is $15. For

PA Bedding, Inc. Receives $450,000 in Loan funds
PA Bedding, Inc. was formed in 1954 by Alfred and Alexander Adler and was originally located
in Frackville, PA before relocating to its present location in Old Forge, PA. The loan funds received are a combination of ARC funds, Tri-District
loan funds and DCED-SBF funds for machinery and equipment as part of a total modernization project costing $1,000,000. The company currently employs
50 individuals but intends to increase that number by six to eight new hires within three years of completing the project.
Low interest loan funds available for agricultural production-related
enterprises
Through the First Industries Program, NEPA is offering low interest loans to producers of
agricultural products who have 100 or less employees. Eligible businesses can borrow up to $200,000 or 50% of the project costs at a fixed interest
rate of 3.25% and the loan funds can be used for land acquisition, building acquisition, renovations or construction, purchase of machinery and
equipment and working capital. Working capital is limited to $100,000 or 50% of project costs, whichever is less. An eligible enterprise must be
engaged in one of the following activities: production agriculture, which is the production of farm commodities and includes agricultural,
horticultural, aquacultural, vegetable, fruit and floricultural products; livestock and meats; wool; hides; fur; poultry and eggs; dairy products;
nuts; mushrooms; honey products and forest products. For more detailed information about the First Industries Agricultural Programs including the

According to the Pennsylvania State Data Center, per capita personal income in Pennsylvania
reached $33,257 in 2004 and ranked 18th nationally. This information was gathered from the January issue of the Survey of
Business, recently released by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). Per capita personal income in the commonwealth has increased
$1,527 between 2003 and 2004, and by more than $5,000 since 1999.
Personal income in Pennsylvania totaled $435.4 billion in the 3rd quarter of 2005, 1.0
percent higher than the previous quarter ($431.2 billion) and 5.2 percent higher than the 3rd quarter of 2004 ($414 billion). However, the average
annual growth rate of personal income in Pennsylvania between 1994 and 2004 is better than just 5 other states. For more information, visit:

GOVERNMENT
CONTRACT BID LEADS Renovation of Three
Boilers and Installation of New Controls. This project
includes: demolition of an existing coal boiler and replacement with a gas/oil water tube unit; installation of a aboveground storage tank system;
replacement of a 300 ton capacity coal bunker, elevator, conveying and distribution equipment, abatement of hazardous materials in the plant,
refurbishment of the combustion chamber and water tubes for two existing stoker/coal boilers. In addition, replacement of all associated
appurtenances (feed water, DA tank, controls, ID fans, ash handling, concrete repair, etc.) as necessary while maintaining continuous operations.
