CEO's Corner

As the seasons change, so is the opportunity for change in ourselves.

We all know that change can sometimes be difficult and scary, but it is when we face our fears and work through those fears, that we feel the real sense of accomplishment. Empowerment is about giving someone a choice and the ability to act on those choices. When I hear people say, “I wish I could do that” or “I really want to accomplish this”, my first thought is, “why don’t you empower yourself to do so”?

My take on this is that too many people sit back and dream or wish for something to happen instead of making something happen. Think about it, we all do it.  The most current, relative, situation in my life, that I would like to change, is to lose 10 pounds. What would it take to accomplish this?  It would take a commitment to eating healthier and exercising more. Well, what is so hard about that?  Well, believe me, after some of the long days that I have at work there is nothing more that I would enjoy than grabbing a pizza and relaxing on the couch. But wait, I WISH I could lose ten pounds. Do I really want what I am wishing for?  I guess that is something to first reflect upon.  Ok, yes I do WANT to lose 10 pounds, so a change must come.  I need a plan to make a change, because what I’m doing right now is NOT getting me where I want to be.  I think where some people stall is that they think they must do a complete overhaul immediately.  It doesn’t need to be that way.  What if I took bite size steps?  Maybe two nights a week, I eat the salad, and two nights a week I stay on the couch. So I will see how it goes, so far it seems to be working pretty well, and it’s a start. I’m seeing some results, feeling better, and most of all, feeling good about making a change and moving forward instead of staying in the same place.

What is it that you want to accomplish this fall? What changes would you like to make and how will you empower yourself to do this?  Start out with small changes and work towards what you want.  But the key is “to start”. Nike had it right a long time ago.  “Just do it”.  If you want something…Do it!

Tomboy Tools and LP Moulding

We decided to partner with LP Moulding because they have amazing products.  They are affordable, easy to install, and can make a significant improvement in any room.  LP has two product lines.  First is a pre-finished wood grain and pre-painted moulding and the second is a paintable stainable product.  The great thing about the pre-finished moulding is you don't have to sand it, prime it, paint it or stain it so you save time AND money.

In addition to being easy to install and affordable, LP offers a quality product.  It is polymer based so, unlike wood, it is resistant to cracking, splitting, and warping.  It is also resistant to moister so it's a perfect product for your kitchen, bathroom or laundry room.

You can buy LP in two locations.  You will find it in Lowes under the Evertrue brand and in Menards under the LP Moulding Brand.
