Tony Joe White to Perform at May Frist Fridays
Some of Tony Joe White’s well-known blues songs include the swampy “Polk Salad Annie” and
soulful “Rainy Night in Georgia.” White has toured with such artists as Eric Clapton, Joe Cocker, Creedence
Clearwater Revival, and James Taylor, among others. His album Lake Placid Blues was the first of two nominations for “Best R & B
Album” by the Nashville Music Awards.
After debuting at the historic Isle of Wight Festival in 1970, White became well known throughout Europe.
While his European following ignited a vibrant blues career, he is also known worldwide as a well respected, timeless musician.
This is underscored by the all-star line up of friends that helped him record his recent Uncovered album. Featured musicians on the
album include Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton, Michael McDonald, J. J. Cale, and the late Waylon Jennings in one of his final studio appearances.
If you have a craving for some down-home, swampy blues with feeling, you won’t want to miss Tony Joe White's
performance at the Frist Center! For more information on White and his music, visit his Web site at www.tonyjoewhite.com.
