“The Tennessee Young Democrats stand behind our party, our Governor and Barack Obama. Young voters can make
the difference in this election as we have already seen in the Democratic primary – especially in Tennessee,” said Seannalyn Brandmeir,
President of the Tennessee Young Democrats. “In February we saw the number of Tennessee young voters quadruple. We have an opportunity to
change our country.”
The Tennessee Young Democrats committed this week to reach 5,000 newly registered voters in order to turn Tennessee
blue this November. How many voters will you reach out to?
SEN. ALEXANDER'S HOT AIR WILL NOT SOLVE RISING GAS PRICES
Tennessee Democratic Party Chairman Gray Sasser leveled charges of obstructionism at Sen. Alexander saying that
seventy-seven partisan filibusters this year amount to a lot of "hot-air that will not solve our nation's energy crisis."
This week, Republican Senator Lamar Alexander gave Tennesseans another reason why he is the wrong choice at the
November ballot box. Participating in the Senate record-breaking 77 filibusters, Republicans like Sen. Alexander voted four times
in eight days to block debate on rising gas prices.
Alexander was in Nashville earlier this week to show off electric plug-in cars, something Republican
nominee-apparent John McCain has previously opposed. Blake Hounshell of Foreign Policy wonders aloud, "How do you charge them if you live in the
city and park on the street?"
