Denver, CO – August 11, 2008: FirstNet Learning, a leader in online learning solutions, announces the launch of the newly-updated CIRSA Knowledge@Work® Online University.
FirstNet Learning (FNL) and the Colorado Intergovernmental Risk Sharing Agency (CIRSA) joined
forces in 2001 to launch online training for CIRSA’s 200+ member municipalities and public entities, and their 10,000+ employees.
As the product and service offerings of FNL have evolved in the last few years, it was important to both FNL and CIRSA to bring their online
training center up to the highest level available. The timing of the newly updated online university coincides with the re-design
of CIRSA’s visual branding.
CIRSA is committed to providing their members with a high quality educational experience. Their updated online university
features learning suites, called “WorkPlace
Colleges™” carefully selected and tailored to address the needs of its members. There are five WorkPlace Colleges™ categorized by occupational areas: Police/Fire/EMS, Public Works & Utilities, Managers
& Elected Officials, Parks & Rec, Utilities/Water/Sanitation, and Administrative & Office. The new site also offers increased
functionality with a Visitor Center, Student Center, and Resource Library, along with the potential to expand functions further in the
future.
CIRSA
Knowledge@Work® Online University is filled with recommended core, continuing education and
supervisory level courses, as well as elective courses, all carefully selected and tailored to address the needs of CIRSA member’s employees in
various municipal and public entity positions. Courses are offered in Health & Safety, Human Capital, Business Skills, PC/Desktop
Skills, and more.
“CIRSA has worked with
Colorado municipalities and affiliated public entities for more than 25 years. We understand the risks, issues and laws that our members face
day-to-day. In an effort to help reduce an entity’s exposure to risk, and to enhance the various other training we offer, we teamed up
with FirstNet Learning seven years ago to bring convenient, consistent online training to our members all across Colorado. Online learning has
been embraced by our members for a number of reasons, including the fact that training is available at any time, at any place, at any pace”,
states Chris Krall, CIRSA Deputy Executive Director.
Roy Burger, Chairman and CEO of FirstNet Learning, says “We are proud to continue to be CIRSA’s online training
partner. Their newly updated online university is innovative in a number of ways, featuring the latest FNL product
updates. It also carries their new branding a step further. We’ve had a great partnership with CIRSA for
many years and we’re excited to launch their new university, complete with highly relevant WorkPlace Colleges™ and targeted
training.”
Online training from FirstNet Learning is affordable and flexible. The majority of courses range from 15
minutes to 2 hours and it is possible to begin work on a course, exit at any point with a bookmark, then return when it's convenient and pick up at
the same place. The topics are user friendly and easy to navigate. In addition, employees may print off their
own certificates of completion for each program they’ve successfully completed. Training coordinators can also easily track courses completed
by their staff. The new CIRSA Knowledge@WorkÔ Online University, created and powered by FirstNet Learning, is truly a comprehensive turn-key online university
that goes far beyond a simple learning management system.
