Golf Scramble '07 set to break fund-raising record

This Thursday, nearly 144 HR professionals and sponsors will gather at Gaylord Springs Golf Links to play in the 3rd annual MT|SHRM Golf Scramble to benefit professional development scholarships for all our members.  This year's proceeds will be close to $30,000, according to Doug Edwards, Golf Scramble '07 Chair.

"We invite you and your guests to join us for the golf event (a very few spots are still open) and/or the After Work Cocktails and Cookout beginning at 6 pm," says Doug.

"But more importantly, we also invite you to support the sponsors who are supporting you by giving them an opportunity to be of service to you and your organization."

Chili Cook-off a big hit

Last month the HR Career Transition Team held their 4th semi-annual "Careers in Motion Mixer" at the offices of DBM in Brentwood.  The mixer included the chili competition and a good time was had by all.

The goal of the Team is to help HR professionals in career transition, new graduates, or those seeking advancement in the HR field. The purpose of our group is to facilitate networking, share job opportunities, discuss job market trends, teach interviewing skills, assist with resume writing and provide guest speakers who are leaders in their field.

Nonetheless, this particular event was all about the Chili. There were two top-winning recipes in the categories of Traditional and Non-traditional Chili.  Bekah Spires from Office Team took home the winning ribbon for best Non-traditional recipe and Flo Rothaker took home the ribbon for the best Traditional Chili.

So, come out to the next event to be held next spring.  It will be all about chocolate, and of course, networking organizations with some great MT|SHRM candidates.

Harvard Business School Publishing and SHRM cordially invite senior HR professionals (director level and above) to apply to participate in the 2007 Executive HR Network Summit to be held September 20, 2007 in Washington, DC.

This is a unique program developed to bring together HR leaders from top organizations to address critical challenges, exchange ideas and solutions, and interact with renowned experts in leadership, strategy and management.

To ensure the appropriate mix of participants and provide an executive-level forum, applications will be screened by SHRM based on criteria identified on the application form, regardless of the order in which applications are received.

This event has been pre-approved by HRCI for six hours of strategic management credit.
