The Programs Committee will present an afternoon workshop following the April metro luncheon on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at the Millennium Maxwell House Hotel.

The Human Capital Planning program provides HR professionals with a holistic way to deliver a workforce strategy in alignment with organizational strategy. Taking the future state of an organization, HR professionals will learn how to assess the current workforce against the needed future workforce, aligning both human resources activity and management activity toward creating the workforce of the future.

The program will be presented by Julie H. Stein, SPHR, Sr. Manager with North Highland Company. She has over 20 years of experience in change management, human capital planning and workforce development, specializing in organization design, HR strategy development, talent management, cultural assessment and executive coaching.

2007 Tennessee Disabilities Forum

The 2007 Tennessee Disabilities Forum will be held on April 30, 2007 from 7:00 am to 12 Noon at the Millennium Maxwell House Hotel in Nashville.  The Forum is an opportunity for Tennesseans to come together in collaboration, cooperation and innovation to serve the needs of those with disabilities.  Separately, they serve narrow constituencies.

The forum is an opportunity to share ideas and gain an understanding of the services provided by all groups.  Through this discussion the goal is to maximize our efforts and reduce duplication.

This forum includes an informative presentation and panel discussion of issues concerning the delivery of services to Tennesseans with disabilities. The goal is to raise the awareness of the challenges organizations in Tennessee face serving those Tennesseans with disabilities. The Forum hopes to bring to the forefront the problems and unmet needs of Tennessee citizens with disabilities.

The emphasis will be to encourage and create collaboration among community-based organizations and government agencies.  There will be face-to-face discussion of issues and identification of potential solutions.

Over 200 participants are expected to participate in this dynamic forum.  Please make a reservation by April 15, 2007 to ensure a place at the table to hear about and contribute to the exchange of ideas by contacting Conference Reservations at www.goodwillmidten.org or Sheila Thompson at  615 742-4151.

The event is Sunday, May 6 at the Nashville Zoo.  In addition, three other walks will be held in Middle TN--Sumner County 4/22, Rutherford County 5/19, and Maury County 5/20.   Nearly 400 other Arthritis Walk events across the country can be found at www.arthritis.org.

The Arthritis Walk features a three-mile and one-mile course with activities for the entire family.  Participants walk in honor of a friend or family member with arthritis, while those with arthritis wear blue hats to signify their action in taking control of their condition.

This team-focused event is a fun and effective way to support the Arthritis Foundation in the prevention, control and cure of arthritis and related diseases.
