In-Vision it - Where are they now?
This
is Jack, our 8 year old Poodle disguised
as a Labrador Retriever. His
name, on
his AKC registration, really is, That's a Fact Jack. While the other
registered names read like poetry (Abigail's Sunny Delight, Beau of
Hampton, etc) - we thought in comparison, that Jack's name was, well,
kind of funny.
A few years ago, we discovered that
even
though he is terrified of white garbage bags, won't cross the threshold
of the kitchen even if there is a steak waiting on the other side (I am
not
making
that up) and loves to sniff car exhaust - he is actually quite the
photographer. So, since he lays around here doing not much of anything
during
the day anyway, we asked him to write an article for us for the
newsletter and he agreed wholeheartedly.
You can look for his short
tips on a
regular basis, and if you stumble across something that you don't
understand with your own camera, don't be shy. Feel free to send Jack
an
email
at info@in-visionstudio.com, and he'll be happy to get back to you with
the facts.
Jack's Fact
Look before
you click. A
camera is like
a dog.
Did you ever
notice that dogs don't trip very often? That is because we
see everything in front of us just as it is and we focus and adjust
accordingly. Humans have a tendency to analyze what they see while
they
look. (No offense, but you can be
a bit judgmental at times.) For example, I'm out for a walk with my
owner (won't name names) and we come to a shrub. I sniff - think
"shrub". The owner thinks, "how pretty, a lilac bush, it smells so
good, and what pretty flowers. That shrub could sure use a trim,
I
would love to see some of those lavender flowers in a white vase..."
While this owner is being distracted by these thoughts, I sniff again,
find a candy wrapper, soda can and see that right behind the bush is a
red fire hydrant and 3 foot weeds.
A
camera
is like a dog. Whatever you point the lens (or
snout) at, that
is what
it sees - no judgment, no distractions. My first tip for turning your
snapshots into something more is to try to see what the camera, or your
dog, sees. What is really there in front of you? If it doesn't look
good - move the distractions, put your subject in another location,
or change your camera angle. Focus
in on your subject, make adjustments, then click the shutter.
Woof.

It's a great way to keep in touch
and we LOVE Hearing from
you!
Often a client will tell us how much they enjoyed reading about someone on our blog.
They felt a connection with their story, they loved their wedding details or they could somehow relate to the family as being just like them.
On
more than a few occasions, friends found each other through us; they went to college together, grew up in the same neighborhood, were distantly
related or had some other crazy sixth degree of separation story to tell!
As a way to stay connected we are starting the Client Corner - stories all about you! Whether you were a high school or
college senior, a young family, or a bride & groom, we'll be asking you where life has taken you.
Check out Antonette & Joe - they are about to celebrate their second anniversary, but that isn't the only thing they have to be joyful
about.
If you want to share your story with us and we haven't already contacted you, send an e-mail to info@in-visionstudio.com.
