Message from Corrina
Greetings from my community garden! Today is International Day for Biodiversity. We can all do our part for biodiversity by planting wherever we can (rooftops, pots and small plots). This
planting season I'm rowing each seed with a new purpose: gratitude for having food and some land to grow my own.
In the last few months, the plight of the world's hungry is on everyone's minds. I
just came back from the United Nation's Commission on Sustainable Development meetings where I presented on the impacts of biofuels on global food
security. The fervor and tension surrounding the issue of food, energy, water and climate change was striking.
Many are asking: how can we slow down and create a sustainable balance?
In the next few days, I will be coaching a community of advocates in a fast for
the hungry. Members of churches, international development agencies and environmental and farm groups will be fasting for 3
days to bring attention to the global food crisis. It is my hope that their actions will raise political awareness and contribute to a
sustainable balance in which each of us and the world will thrive.
Be well,
