On the outskirts of San Jose lies the world-renowned coffee-producing region of Tres Ríos--known worldwide for producing some of the best coffee in the country, and Costa Rican coffee is famous for its excellent quality and robust flavor. Grown at an altitude of 4,900 to 6,500 feet, Costa Rica La Dama is shade grown in the Central Valley’s rich volcanic soil. With over one hundred inches of rain annually, it’s the perfect environment for the production of a very fine coffee. The beans
are harvested during the late fall and early winter, wet processed and then sun dried.
At a Full City Roast, this coffee starts with fruit, vanilla, and milk
chocolate aromas. There’s a sweet flavor to it and the rich,
full body and delicate acidity linger slightly. The
whole
cup finishes nice and dry. |

The season of graduation parties and spring gatherings is also the season of coffee. Here are a few tips for brewing coffee for large groups.
Plan your coffee needs. How many people do you expect to attend and what time of day is the event? If it’s in the morning, more people will drink coffee than in the late afternoon or evening. When we provide coffee for large events, we plan to have enough coffee for 50-80 percent of estimated attendance. As a general rule of thumb, one pound of coffee makes enough for about 30 people. Check our website for a table of coffee yields.
Stop in to your local Dunn Bros Coffee shop a day or two before your party. If you’re going to need more than a few pounds, call ahead and we’ll make sure your coffee is there waiting when you come to pick it up. If you’re not sure what variety of coffee to get, check our website for bean information. As always, ask your Barista! They love talking coffee with you.
Pre-grind your coffee if you’re using your 10-cup pot so it’s ready to brew. Then just measure 2/3cup – 1 cup of grounds for each full pot. Use a thermal carafe to keep your brewed coffee hot. Then prepare your machine for the next batch so when you need it all you have to do is press start.
Make sure the coffee is ground appropriately if you’re using a different brewing system than the one you’re used to (like a large percolator). Your Barista will be able to help you determine which grind is right and they’ll be happy to grind it for you.
