OK State Representative Al McAffrey: "A Living
History"

Recently recognized in The Advocate's 40th
anniversary issue in "Great American Lives: The Trailblazers",
Representative Al McAffrey will discuss campaigning as an openly gay
candidate and his career in public office, this Tuesday at the Equality Center. Join OkEq for a reception at 7pm
and Representative McAffrey's speech at 8pm.

Pumpkin
Decorating Contest
Pumpkin Contest, throughout October,
Equality Center
Bring
your decorated pumpkins (external decorations only, no carvings or
flames) to display throughout the Equality Center during October. We'll
feature them at out BooHaHa booth and award first, second and third
place winners. Entry fee is $5 and deadline for participation is
October 19. Entries should be in good taste, child friendly and
appropriate for public display.
Brookside BooHaHa parade
Saturday, October 27, 3pm, 49th and
Peoria
Oklahomans
for Equality will celebrate a collaboration with Families First, an
LGBT parents network, by participating in the annual Brookside BooHaHa
parade -- the first time OkEq
has been invited to participate in a kid-friendly event. Our float
theme is "There is No Trick to Showing Respect to All Oklahoma Families
-- It Is Always a Treat!" Over twenty families and the National AIDS Fund AmeriCorps Team will be assisting OkEq with the parade.

the Equality Center every Saturday at 3pm. To
