A Second Chance:
rewriting your
human ecology essay

By Rebecca Hancock COA class of '97

As many of us have graduated COA several years or more ago, it's doubtful that each of us are the same idyllic and starry-eyed person, ready to conquer the world.  During my senior year, writing my human ecology essay was just one more task I had to complete before I could graduate. Nonetheless, I tried to convey in a few short pages, what was in my heart. I strove to create a metaphor that truly represented my feelings.

If you had the assignment today to rewrite your Human Ecology Essay, what would it say about you?  Reflect on where life has taken you post graduation. Think about how the ecology of your soul has been altered by the daily movements of life.  I challenge you to submit a brand new essay.  Let others see what happens when the soldiers of Human Ecology move into the ranks of mere mortals.

All Human Ecology Essays can be submitted to milja@coa.edu.  We will highlight an essay in each edition of the alumni e-newsletter.
