MARTINA MCBRIDE TO BE HONORED IN KANSAS HALL OF FAME
The Pride Of Sharon, Kansas To Be Inducted Into Music Hall Of Fame
Nashville, Tenn. (January 12, 2007) As Martina's hit single "Anyway" races up the charts, the Kansas Music Hall of Fame honors her as a 2007
inductee.
The beautiful songstress, who has received numerous accolades as one of country music's top artists, will add this prestigious honor to her
repertoire. Though McBride will not be in attendance to receive the award, she noted her enthusiasm and appreciation to the Hall of Fame.
The ceremony will take place on Saturday, January 13th at Liberty Hall in Lawrence, Kansas. Other 2007 inductees include Dawayne Bailey, The Blue
Riddim Band, The Common Few, Marilyn Maye, The Rising Suns, Silvertones, and Tide. According to the Kansas Music Hall of Fame website, "Each of these
performers and bands were chosen for their significant contribution to the musical history of Kansas."
Bill Lee, president of the Kansas Music Hall of Fame, says that the board of directors gets a say in the vote to keep it from being a popularity
contest. He also adds, "As far as I know, we're the only hall of fame that allows dues-paying members to get a vote."
McBride recently wrapped-up her annual Christmas tour and is finishing her album slated for a release in April, 2007.
Martina is also currently nominated for a 2007 Grammy for "Best Female Country Vocal Performance" for "I Still Miss Someone" off her platinum-selling
Timeless album.
Martina McBride's powerhouse voice has earned her more than 16 million in album sales, garnered six No.1 hits; 20 Top 10 singles and a mantle of
honors, including a record tying four CMA Female Vocalist of the Year trophies. Her fiery, passionate vocals have created such signature hits
as "Independence Day," "Wild Angels," "A Broken Wing," "Blessed" and "This One¹s for the Girls." These songs along with hits such as "Concrete
Angel," "Love's The Only House" and "God's Will" have become not only memorable musical statements, but resounding social commentaries as well. The
multi-platinum country star's 8th studio album, "Timeless," debuted at number one and was quickly certified platinum.
