Y-ME Illinois Presents: The Big Night Out...Indulgence for a Cause
On the evening of Friday, October 19, 2007, Y-ME Illinois will honor our supporters -old and
new- while raising money to allow us to continue our work in the community; supporting women with breast cancer and educating others so that they
live strong healthy lives. We expect 1000 supporters to attend this indulgent evening and celebrate
together with an array of gorgeous nibbles, champagne, scrumptious martinis, luxurious chocolates and live entertainment!
Indulgences will be provided by Martini Park, the 900 North shops,
Touch Salon, Geja's Cafe and much more!
The Big Night Out will feature exciting raffle prizes, a silent auction and
goodie bags provided by 900 North.

Meet Ruby Schucker, Y-ME Illinois' new Development Director!

Y-ME Illinois Welcomes Ruby
Schucker!
Ruby C. Schucker has worked as a development professional in Chicago's
nonprofit sector since 1979. Through her efforts as both a senior level staff member and as a consultant, she has been instrumental
in helping organizations to successfully enhance both their fundraising and outreach initiatives.
Some of the entities that Ruby has worked on behalf of include: Highland
Park Hospital, Friends of the Parks, Chicago Youth Centers, Strategic Learning Initiatives and El Valor. In 2004, Ms. Schucker started a consulting
business, Consultants for Causes to provide technical assistance to both small and mid sized local nonprofits.
Ms. Schucker received a B.A. in Education from Northeastern Illinois
University, and has taught in the Chicago Public School System. She is a former board member of the Tourette Syndrome Association
of Illinois and West Rogers Park After School Program.
Ruby's interest in working on behalf of Y-ME Illinois has been a
longstanding one. One of her passions has been to help women at-risk In addition, she has two close
friends who are living with breast cancer and has been encouraged by their progress in the battle with the disease. She is
thrilled to be on staff at Y-ME Illinois and to have the chance to make an impact in the work of the organization.

Network
A free, monthly one-hour teleconference featuring a breast cancer related presentation by a
medical professional followed by a question and answer session. Participants are divided into small groups for discussion, which are moderated by
peer counselors.
The ShareRing Network teleconferences take place on the third Wednesday of each month, beginning at 7:00 PM
Central Time (CT).
August 15, 2007, 7:00 p.m. (CDT) "Clinical Trials: What's In It for Me?" Speaker: Hyman
B. Muss, M.D. Medical Oncologist Professor of Medicine, University of Vermont and Vermont Cancer Center
 Hyman B.
Muss, M.D., will give an overview of the clinical trials process and address common questions. He will explain what patients can expect when they
enter a trial, including potential benefits and risks. Dr. Muss will also describe how clinical trials impact the future of cancer treatment.

Associate Board and Streak Chicago Pink
The 2nd Annual Streak Chicago Pink event has been set for Friday, September 14th
at Vines on Clark. We'll honor the 2007 Pink Streak marathon runners and raise funds for Y-ME Illinois. It will be a night
filled with food, drinks and fun including raffles and entertainment. We are looking for enthusiastic men and women to help plan this
fantastic event (last year it raised over $13,000 for Y-ME
Illinois!) Positions are still available for committee chairs and committee members. If you're interested in learning more about this

The mission of the Y-ME Illinois Associate Board is to impact the fight against
breast cancer through volunteering, increasing awareness and raising funds to support the programs and services of the Illinois Affiliate of Y-ME.

Distance Classic, Y-ME Illinois is given the opportunity to help to pass out medals at the Finish Line from 6:00am - 10:30am on Sunday, August
12th.

and the opportunity to see family and friends finish the race from an exciting vantage point.

The annual women's softball tournament features nearly 1000 players each year who gather to
play ball while raising funds to support the many programs and services provided free of charge by Y-ME
Illinois. Join us for this summer tradition and help us to ensure that no one faces
breast cancer alone!

Living Well: A Free Women's Cancer
Health & Wellness Event
The 3rd Annual Living Well Event will be held on September 10, 2007
from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Hyatt on the McDonald's campus in Oak Brook.
This event is presented in conjunction with Loyola's Cardinal Bernadine Cancer
Center other local cancer organizations to provide women with information and resources. This free
event will feature lecture panels, interactive tables and a boxed dinner. Raffle
prizes will conclude the evening.
