First Annual Streak Chicago Pink
Event Raises Over 13,000!
Streak Chicago Pink, hosted by the Y-ME Illinois Associate Board was a public tribute
to the spirit and
dedication of the Y-ME Illinois Pink Streak Team, who have committed to raise
$750 each to further the mission of Y-ME
Illinois while training for the
LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon.
With over 100 people in attendance, the 2006 Pink
Streak Presenting Sponsor Flair Communications announced a challenge to the
runners and asked that they "go the extra mile" with a 10% increase in
dollars raised over last year. To launch
this exciting challenge, Flair Communications matched their initial gift to the
Team with an additional $7,500 donation.
If the Pink Streak Team is able to achieve the $130,000 goal by Marathon day Flair will contribute an additional $2,500!
The event attendees were touched and inspired when Y-ME Illinois presented the Spirit of Giving
Award to Chicago Marathon Founder Lee Flaherty for his commitment
to ensuring that no one faces breast cacner alone.
Congratulations to the Associate Board on the success of this event, Lee Flaherty for being the
first to receive the Spirit
of Giving Award, and Flair Communications for providing endless support and
generosity. Special thanks to the entire Pink Streak Team for
