Woman of the Month: Iza Redlinski
Y-ME Illinois’ Program Coordinator, Polish Community, Iza Redlinski, was made Woman of
the Month by Polish-American magazine SZIKagowianka. Iza is Y-ME Illinois’ first Polish outreach staff member and has been making great
strides to bring breast health awareness to Chicago’s Polish Community. Iza took advantage of a previous article in SZIKagowianka on the lack
of breast health resources for Polish women in Chicago, to inform them about Y-ME Illinois and our Polish Community outreach initiatives. The Woman
of the Month is also featured on SZIKagowianka’s Editor-in-Chief’s morning radio talk show on 1490 AM, an opportunity Iza proudly used
to speak about Y-ME Illinois! Iza is very excited to use these mediums to educate more women about the importance of being proactive about their
breast health.
SZIKagowianka magazine focuses on the lives of Polish-American women in Chicagoland that
concentrates on beauty tips, cooking and advocates for women to lead healthy lifestyles. Congratulations Iza!
If you are interested in having Iza give a Breast Health Awareness presentation in Polish,
please contact Iza Redlinski at Y-ME Illinois: (312) 364-9071 or iredlinski@y-me.org

Update from Judy Guitelman, Program Coordinator-Latino Community
The recruiting of Spanish Speaking volunteers has been a priority of mine! Please let me know if you would be interested in joining our
amazing group of women. We are receiving requests to open Y-ME support groups from several hospitals in the Chicago area who are willingly offering us
the use of their facilities. If you are a breast cancer survivor or a health care professional and would like to train to become a facilitator for one
of these groups, please call Judy Guitelman at 312-364-9071 ext13. Muchas gracias!
I was pleased to be invited to join the Luchando Contra el Cáncer Planning Committee. The Luchando Contra el Cáncer event is
a FREE community celebration dedicated to the health and well being of the Hispanic/Latino community. It will feature a health fair, health
screenings, cancer prevention workshops, activities for children and older adults, entertainment, raffles and most importantly they will host a
Remembrance Ceremony to honor cancer survivors and those lost to cancer. I will be honored to be part of this committee!
It was a pleasure to end this year participating in the St. Anthony Hospital Cancer Center celebration. The nurses in this center
organized a luncheon, raffles and provided many gifts for cancer patients and their families. As a breast cancer survivor myself, I was overwhelmed
by the relationship that had been formed between the health care professionals and their current and past patients. What a joy to see such caring and
support! Felices Fiestas!
You can contact Judy Guitelman, Program Coordinator-Latino Community at (312) 364-9071x13 or at jguitelman@y-me.org
