SPRINGFIELD HOLDS SUCCESSFUL "WALK TO EMPOWER"
The second annual Walk to Empower Springfield was on Sunday May 11, 2008! Walkers turned out in large
numbers in spite of the terrible rain fall and 50 mile an hour winds. The spirit that the volunteers brought to this event was heart warming, to say
the least! As of June 1, 2008, approx. $65,000 has been raised for this event. We are
still accepting donations! Please make checks payable to: Y-ME's Walk to Empower-Springfield and mail to: 75 Remittance Dr. Suite 6630,
Chicago, IL 60675-6603.
A bank time slot, for teams to turn in additional donations, is scheduled for Monday, June 9, 2008. Times and
locations are:
- Noon to 2pm at the Springfield Chamber of Commerce office on the Old State Capitol
Plaza
- 4:30 to 6:30pm at the Coldwell Banker real estate office located at 3201 Old
Jacksonville Rd.
