2008 Tree Cozy Public
Art Project, Washington Street, Downtown Columbus
Walk along Washington Street to view the 33 "tree cozies" knitted and crocheted by
local fiber artists. The colorful display will be sure to catch your eye. Vote for your favorite cozy at http://www.therepublic.com/. The winner will receive $1000 to donate to their
favorite charity. Don't miss your opportunity to see this unique display of public art. Voting ends March 22 and

7:30pm - Singing Hoosiers, Asbury United Methodist Church,

The Indiana University Singing Hoosiers,
directed by Columbus native, Michael Schwartzkopf, will perform in a "Music at Asbury" program. The Singing Hoosiers are nationally recognized
as one of the top choirs in the country. Local Singing Hoosier alumni will perform one song with the choir. No admission charge; a free
will offering will be taken.

Distinguished IU Professor of English and
award-winning author Sanders will read from his works and discuss the ways in which stories help to shape and reveal the meaning of our lives. Tim

The Hasty Pudding Puppets give a left handed salute to American history that would
give Martha Washington a migraine. During our anachronistic tour de farce back through time, Thurston Osgood, host of the interview program, "Meet
the Patriots," brings you face to face with the people who made our country what it is today and gives you a chance to get even with them for it. Ben
Franklin flies his kite on stage, George Washington sports his famous wooden smile, and Betsy Ross puts the first flag together before the wondering

Inspirational Catholic musician Matthew Baute will be offering a Lenten Reflections Prayer Concert
in church on Saturday, March 8 at 6:30 pm. The gentleness of Matthew’s musical style draws the listener into prayer. Gifted with a deeply
soothing vocal quality, his voice is perfect for creating the prayerful, joyful atmosphere that is a trademark of his concerts. Matthew is an artist
with World Library Publications, a major Catholic publisher of liturgical music. His mission is to facilitate musical prayer experiences that open

11am & 3pm - Pipe Organ INformance, First Presbyterian Church, Columbus
Music at FPC (First Presbyterian
Church) will present C.J. Sambach, Organist/Educator in his award winning program. Called the "Pied Piper of the Organ", he seeks to acquaint
and interest young people in the organ as a viable instrument in today's culture. The 11:00 INformance is aimed at children ages nine and up where he will explain the hows and whys of a pipe organ. "But
ages 90 up are also welcome," he said. The 3:00 performance will have some INformance features but will contain mostly recital pieces. The
public is welcome. Both programs are in the church sanctuary at 7th & Franklin Sts. An offering will be received. Child care is available

MARTIN. Martin's seminal work elevates the role the arts play in American society from entertainment to one that is central and pivotal in civic and
business life. Author and consultant Patricia Martin is one of the nation's foremost authorities on the emerging marketplace created by the
convergence of art, entertainment, education and technology. She is president of Chicago-based LitLamp Communications Group, the firm she founded in
1995. The firm has worked with a variety of organizations including the Discovery Channel, Bank North, the Seattle Opera, the New York Philharmonic,

Creativity Retreat Weekend, Rising Sun, IN
Workshops and discussions focused on developing and
expanding individual creativity through writing, music, and visual arts experiences! Keynote speaker Dr. Eric Maisel from San Francisco will
discuss "Creativity for Life" and "Coaching the Artist Within." Includes dinner on Saturday evening. Mary Pierce Brosmer will address
creative writing to sustain an art-filled life on Saturday and Sunday. Fees are $160/person by March 1st or $175/person after March 1st.
Fee includes 3 workshops, materials, opening reception, continental breakfasts, lunch and keynote dinner. $50/person for keynote dinner only,
or for full-time students and teachers to attend all events. Email

Call for Artists
Conner Prairie is seeking art and craft vendors for their fourth Indiana Festival:
Celebrating the Arts, Music & People of the Midwest, which will be held on June 7 & 8, 2008! Approximately 60-70 visual
artists and craftsmen will be selected to sell their work as part of this two-day celebration which examines the many cultures and traditions that
exist in Indiana today. The artwork and craftsmanship accepted into the show represent only one component of the festival, which also includes
multi-cultural food, music, dancing and games. Attendance has doubled since its first year, with a record 8,200 guests attending in 2007.
Conner Prairie does extensive marketing with television, radio, print, posters, web links and other materials.
Booth fee is only $125 for the weekend for a 12 x 12 space if you bring your own tent.
Double space is $200. Pre-set tents are available on a first come, first served basis and booth fees are $150. Hours are 10am–5pm
Saturday, 11am-5pm Sunday. Load-in is June 6.
To be considered, send three quality images of your work plus one booth shot to artists@connerprairie.org. Include a short bio with description of your work, price range and list of previous shows. Work
relating to one’s culture or heritage is encouraged. If selected, you will receive a contract via email. Contracts and booth fees
are due no later than end of March for guaranteed booth space. Contact Kathy

Call for Artists
The Rising Sun IN Festival of Fine Arts and Crafts is seeking artists to participate in their
first annual festival. September 13-14 will bring two days of exceptional art, music, wine and catered refreshments along the Ohio River in
Historic Downtown Rising Sun, Indiana. $8,000 in awards, plus purchase awards; booth sitters, breakfast/snacks; convenient free parking;
reasonable accommodations including a local RV park; large promotional budget. Jury and booth fees are affordably priced to encourage

The United Arts Fund of Columbus, a fund created to help support Columbus area arts organizations, has now
started accepting donations for 2008. Thanks to all of you who donated for 2007 and we look forward to your involvement this

The Columbus Area Arts
Council provides a variety of quality arts and entertainment events, exhibits and programs in the
